The Chicken Exit

Okay, so my gym recently started this Weight Loss Challenge - 6 months long and the winner gets a cruise for 2. Sounds great, right? Yep. Except for one small detail. As soon as I signed up, I slowed down on my workouts and started eating a bunch of crap. So, what's up with that??

Last week I had the opportunity to see Ali Vincent - the first female Biggest Loser - speak at a Healthy Woman Event. She was so inspirational - I admire her so much. I loved her story and could relate to so much of what she said. I left feeling like if she can do it, so can I.

Ali talked about something called a "chicken exit". If you have never heard of this phrase, neither had I. You know when you go to the amusement park and you stand and stand and stand in line for this really scary ride. When you get all the way to the front and it's your turn, you change your mind - there is no way you're gonna do this - well, that little gate they send you out - THAT is the chicken exit. The thing is, if you didn't really want to go, you would not have waited in line all that time, right? The same goes for whatever you're wanting to do - if you really, really want it - then make sure you give yourself NO CHICKEN EXIT!

So, I'm going on record as saying that for this weight loss challenge, I am going all the way - I'm practically hyperventilating as I type, but I am going to win this weight loss challenge. I'm scared, I'm terrified - won't I look like a jerk when I'm still big and fat when the finale comes - or worse - I weigh MORE than when I started. Panic is setting in...
